ALWFA 3.0
In addition to all the features present in ALWFA 2.0, there will be many features added to this version to make help researchers and analysts of Arabic languages and scripture conduct a lot of helpful analyses on input text. I have have thus far received a list of comments and features to be added to ALWFA 3.0. Once these features reach a certain number, I will start implementing and testing them. For now, I am collecting your features and suggestions to give you a feel what's in store for ALWFA 3.0, but that's not going to be for a sometime.
- Ameera, from Sharjah: One functionality that came to my mind is the following: in the Visual Frequency Analysis Display at the bottom part, you can display beside each column another one that represents the approximate letter frequency in Arabic language for that letter (I am not sure if there is such statistics for Arabic language as that for the English language). This feature can help if the software is used for analyzing encrypted/ciphered text.
Will do.
- Maha, from Sharjah: It is actually very nice since it is dealing with Arabic letters, but I do not seem to get the main purpose of doing such an application, I am tricking you to tell me what is your master plan !:) This is just a start of a bigger appliction I would say, maybe if you explain more we can share with you really good ideas?
OK this breaks my heart! Ammm, there is a master plan of course ... I will share with you when this list matures a little.
- Ahmed, from Tripoli: Text search. That is, if the user highlights some word in the text area, all similar words in the text page and in the words frequency table are highlighted. Conversly, if the user click on a word in the table, all similar words in the text area are highlighted. This is very useful when analyzing sacred scripture or when asking the question where does a word that apparently occurs 17 times occur in the text.
Will do.
- Motaz, from Tripoli: Add a text box to allow user to input text to be sought for in the input text. Also, add a fourth column in the table to show frequency in percentiles as well as in absolute value.
Will do.
- Me, from in front of the laptop: Add a button to serialize data in the table to an Excel sheet. Currently, you can achieve the same operation by clicking somewhere in the table, selecting the desired cells, copying and pasting into Excel. But of course, who has the time for all the these days eh? Just-press-a-button is faster.
Will do.
- Nahed: from Cairo: Provide the interface in Arabic as an option, and translate all ALWFA pages to Arabic for people who don't know English but want to do research.
Will do, but, can you help with the translation please? Any one? Free ALWFA copies to you.
Keep'em coming.
